Former CSSHL student-athlete Kaden Hammell has signed an NHL Entry Level Contract with the Seattle Kraken.
The Kraken selected the Langley, BC defenseman in the fifth round, 148th overall at the 2023 NHL Draft.
Hammell spent two seasons in the CSSHL with the North Shore Warriors (previously the West Van Warriors). During the 2018/19 U15 Prep season he tallied 10 points in 22 games. The following U15 Prep campaign he recorded 12 goals and 29 assists in 29 games, leading to the Kamloops Blazers selecting him in the first round,19th overall at the 2020 WHL Draft.
After playing seven games with the team in 2020/21, he would join the Blazers full time in 2021/22, posting 14 points in 57 games. He would split the 2022/23 season between the Blazers and Everett Silvertips, finishing with 26 points in 67 games.
Hammell finished his WHL career with the Silvertips, producing 63 points in 111 games the last two seasons, including a career high 38 in 2024/25 as he captained the team.
